It's Been a While......

Good Evening Stamping Friends!

I know it's been a seriously long time since I posted to my blog & I thank each and every one of you for your prayers, cards, emails and concerns for me.  I appreciate you all so very much & I'm so happy to have such positive people in my life!

I am doing much better with my daily struggle dealing with my brother's death....thanks to an awesome counselor--Hi Jane!  I took her advice & seriously took some time for myself (after a pretty hectic summer schedule) to really focus on this final phase that I'm in.  Unfortunately, this phase is the hardest but at least I know that the light is getting brighter at the end of this tunnel I found myself in.

Grief is NOT easy & everyone grieves differently.  I had to push my grief aside & deal with all the ugliness that came with Rodale's death.  I put the game face on & faced everything that was thrown at me head on.  I honestly don't know how I made it through most days & to further delay my emotions; I've kept myself extremely busy.  Well, that was a huge mistake & my trip to Convention this past summer was the beginning of my most recent breakdown.  When I took a moment to just relax; that was when everything that I had been hiding came crashing back to reality.  I struggled everyday that I was there to stop crying & have a good time.  Thank goodness I had an awesome roommate that actually listened to me & it felt so good to talk about what I am dealing with.

I also know that most people mean well when they ask you how you're doing even though in reality; they really don't care & DON'T want to hear it and the most synical question that seriously brings out that anger that I'm dealing with---Gosh, are you STILL grieving over your brother?  You really need to get over it & just move on!  All I can say is that people are cruel....very cruel when it comes to death.  This is a process & not one that goes away after a few hours or weeks.  Some people take years to get over....really get over a traumatic death.  My baby brother's death was so very traumatic on so many different levels that it's not even funny!  I lost my mother to breast cancer back in 1998.  She suffered a very long & slow death.  I just recently lost my grandmother who also died very slowly.  When a person dies slow; you have a chance to adjust, to actually get used to the idea that this person will no longer be in your life.  It doesn't mean that you don't cry & grieve for them when they're finally at peace but it's a much easier pain to handle or at least this has been my experience.  I am not able to go into details about my brother but what I've found out has not been pleasant & the more I'm interviewed; that bandage gets ripped off that sore even harder and I'm beginning to resent the Government more & more each day.  I will never get closure here....I barely got his body & this is just the tip of the iceberg.

My shining star is knowing that I am almost done!  I'm not rushing, hiding or keeping myself so busy that I can't think straight anymore.  I have taken a step back to really just focus on me & that's the best advice Jane gave me.  I also talk with my husband a lot more because he was so very worried about me & just wanted me to *express* myself or let go of my feelings somehow.  Talking is awesome & it really helps when you have someone that really cares about you to help you through those dark days.  I'm no longer asked "Are you ok?" the statement is "You're going to be OK" and I can smile a real smile because I know that I will be.

My smile is much bigger tonight because I've been accepted to be a member of the Color Me Beautiful Design Team & we make our debut tomorrow!  Why a design team you ask?  I needed to get back to having fun & not just creating for my business.  I miss doing challenges & I'm looking forward to participating in those once again.  I'm not going to sit here & promise that you'll see a post every day but you should see at least 2 although I'm aiming for 3.  I've found that if I don't *plan* things; they actually happen so just make sure you come back tomorrow to see my *simple debut* card for Color Me Beautiful

Wedding Class Card

Good Monday Evening Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.....mine was full of creativity as I prepare for my Bourbonnais class this Friday evening.  I'll be showing you the cards we'll be making throughout this week so stay tuned!

Tonight's post is one of the cards we made @ Grande Reserve Elementary School.  I received a card like this at Convention last year & couldn't wait to reproduce it my way--this year's Convention theme--I kept my lines clean & the design simple.  I do believe my style is clean but not always simple---I do LOVE the layers but my usual creations are not for beginners so I'm training myself LOL!!!  We had a great time & I'm looking forward to the next class!

I'm off to get some more work done!  I don't need to forget anything for Friday---I can't just drive around the corner anymore LOL!  Thanks so much for stopping by & have a great rest of the evening!
Until Next Time,

Crafty Gals May Challenge Card

Good Morning Friends & Happy Saturday!

Today is May 5th & that means it's Crafty Gals Challenge time!!!!!  Our hostess this month is Tracie & she challenged us to make a card to celebrate those who love us.  We also had to make sure that our creations have at least 3 layers, used 2 embellishments & 1 sentiment.

I decided to make a card for my son Reginald who's in the Navy.  I know my son loves me through our many talks & text messages and the fact that he still asks for advice in his life from the *mean woman* speaks volumes for our relationship!  On the day of his graduation from Boot Camp, he thanked me & told me how much he loves me for raising him to be such a strong young man.  I miss him terribly but it comforts me knowing that he's doing so well in school--he's top of his class--& that life is so great for him!  He's following his dreams & he's happy.....what more could a Mom ask for?!!  I love my son with all my heart & I wish him only the best in his life & future!!!

I kept his card simple...as simple as I can make a card LOL....& used masculine colors--whisper white, basic gray & lucky limeade along with the Sail Away stamp set.  My finishing touches were the ribbon & bling....can't make a card without bling even a masculine one!  Reggie always enjoys every card I send to him so I'm sure he's going to like this one too!

Please take the time to check out the rest of the Crafty Gals creations & leave them some love:

Mother's Day Card for COF

Good Evening Friends!
How was your weekend?  Mine was very nice!  Brandon attended his first dance at the Middle School & Bianca and I just hung out doing girly things.  We had a great time and I'm looking forward to our next girl time together!!!

Anywhooo, my post is for the SCS group I belong to named Crafters of Faith.  This month we were challenged to make a Mother's Day card that is 5x7 in size, uses at least 1 die cut & have a matching envelope.  As you can see I do not have a matching envelope yet because I'm a bit challenged with figuring out the size I need for it via my Simply Scored tool.  It's probably really easy to figure out & once I sit down with a clear head.....I won't waste so much cardstock!

I used Rose Red as my base along with Regal Rose, Whisper White & Basic Black.  Vintage Vogue, Fifth Avenue Floral & Full of Life were my choices for stamp sets & I used one of my fave Re-Inker techniques for the rose and I LOVE how it came out!  I hope you enjoy it too along with the rest of the creations the girls made.  You can find the links to their blogs on my left sidebar.

Thanks so much for stopping by & have a great rest of the evening!

Daddy Daughter Dance....

Good Morning!
Well, as you can see from the pics posted above; what kind of weekend we had here!  Shopping for the perfect dress & accessories to go with it, visiting the salon to have pretty hair for the evening and finally the DANCE!!!!!

Bianca was so excited to go to her first dance with her father!  They had so much fun & I can't wait to see the professional pic from that night!  She went with her best friend Julianna & her Marine Dad.....I was told that they were glued at the hip the entire night LOL!!!

While they were out dancing the night away; Brandon & I went bowling and had a few rounds of Laser Tag. This was my first time doing the whole laser tag thing but I tell ya; it was really fun!  I had no clue as to what I was supposed to be doing & he shot me plenty of times....as a matter of fact; I think I was actually killed by him LOL!!!  We had a blast & I'm looking forward to another fun weekend like the one we just had!!!!!!!

I plan to get back to my craftiness....I say that loosely because every time I make a plan.....something comes up so I'm just going to do it!  Thanks so much for stopping by & I'll be back later!
Until Next Time,
Hugs & Love,
