Color Throwdown Sketch Creation

Good Morning & Happy Thursday Everyone!
Well, the blizzard has passed & now we're all snowed in...gotta LOVE winter here in IL!!!!  If it hit any of you, I hope you're staying safe & warm indoors!!!  My kiddos are out of school again today therefore giving me the perfect time to stamp soooo onto my creation for today.

With all that's been going on in my life these past 7 months; I haven't had the chance to play in any of my most fave challenges.  The Color Throwdown challenged us to use Early Espresso, So Saffron, Bashful Blue & Crumb Cake......quite the undertaking if you ask me but I jumped at the opportunity!  I decided to combine the colors with a sketch challenge as well so I went to the Sketch Saturday Blog & instantly  fell in love with the layout for this week.  Once I had my layout figured out, everything just fell into place.  I originally just had plain layers on my card but after looking at it for a bit; decided that it needed some texture & I must say that I do LOVE it now!!!!  Thanks ladies for the AWESOME challenges!  I truly enjoyed making this card!!!

Good Morning & Happy Tuesday Friends!!!
My post for today will be short & sweet.  We're supposed to get a LOT of snow & I have to take my oldest son to the dentist to fix his broken tooth.  He was getting out of the pool at school, slipped & hit his mouth breaking his front tooth!!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed & saying prayers as I drive in this mess today because I'd much rather stay at home but this does need to be taken care of ASAP!

Sooooo, onto my post.....my creation for today is totally inspired by the awesome sketch over at the Mojo Monday Challenge Blog.  I have always LOVED the sketches they come up with for the simple reason that they inspire such creativity in me.  I immediately knew that I wanted to make a square card and use my Greeting Card Kids stampset.  I figured I could brush up on my coloring skills with these adorable stamps & I must say that I truly enjoyed putting this beauty together.  The layout gave me the opportunity to use up some of my leftover DSP & that gorgeous Glimmer Paper....it's so easy to punch with it---there's no mess!!!!  Once I had it all laid out, I decided my card needed some texture at the bottom and ribbon at the top to finish it off......I am extremely happy with it & I hope you all enjoy it as well!!!

I chose those scrumptious looking valentine earrings as my inspiration this week.  I actually had quite the time choosing what I wanted to use but decided that since Valentine's day is upon us; they would be perfect to spark my imagination.  I used the colors that truly spoke to me in that picture: red, gray & white and it didn't hurt that those were the colors in the DSP that I used!  I couldn't wait to try out my new Glitter Paper from SU! & I think the sparkle truly makes this lil' pocket card.  I do love how the white satin ribbon just ties it all together....along with the texture on the envelope.  I hope I've inspired you to create with us this week & for even more inspiration; check out the rest of the Design Team's work & leave them some love:

I chose the colors in the necklace posted above to make my creation for this week.  I've been in a scrapbooking mood lately & looking at De's pages inspired me to actually post mine.  This has also been one of my goals---to actually POST my scrapbook pages so yay me for accomplishing at least one of them!!  I apologize for the picture.....that's one of the reasons I don't post my scrapbook pages--it's really hard for me to get a great pic!!!  The pink hues in the necklace sparked my interest & I immediately knew which picture of my daughter I was going to use!  I started my layout as a 6x6 page and progressed it into the 12x12 you see.  I challenged myself to NOT use DSP & only my stamps, Big Shot and embellishments.  I embossed the swirl from the Baroque Motifs ss in various places on my pages (there is a sister page to this) and used my Big Shot to add texture for visual interest.  The finishing touch was the addition of the pearls around Bianca's photo--I just LOVE that picture of her when she was 3 months old!!!!!  I hope you've enjoyed my creation this week & for even more inspiration; please check out the rest of the Design Team's work:

I chose the Love Bird as my inspiration piece.  I was browsing and as soon as I saw this piece, I pictured a black & silver Valentine's card.  I know it may not be your usual colors for this Holiday but I think it's funny how we get inspired & I like being different :-)  I used brushed silver cardstock as my base, textured my black background piece and used a pearl as an eyeball for my bird.  I also embossed my sentiment & the French words underneath the bird to accent my card a bit more.  Overall, I like the final result and I hope you do too!!  For even more inspiration, check out the rest of the Design Team's work & leave them some love:
